Cos Cob Library

The Friends of The Cos Cob Library is a volunteer organization dedicated to encouraging and assisting the work of the Cos Cob Branch of the Greenwich Library by providing information to the community, sponsoring programs, and coordinating the volunteer activities of the Cos Cob Library. The Friends reach out to children, students, teachers, and adults to nurture a lifelong love of reading and to introduce the vast print and non-print resources of the Library. The Friends membership dollars help defray expenses outside the Library’s budget with gifts of equipment, extra supplies, and by sponsoring:

  • Adults’ Programs (including book discussion groups, author presentations, and genealogy workshops)
  • Educational & Computer Workshops
  • Cultural Programs
  • Entertainment Programs
  • Art Exhibits
  • Craft Activities
  • Theme Events
  • Holiday Parties
  • Social Events
  • Concerts
  • Children’s / Young Adult Programs
  • Book Sales

Friends Members show continued support for the Library. Becoming a member is an opportunity for community service and involvement in hosting programs and exhibits, shelf reading, and assisting with event hospitality.

The Cos Cob Library is the hub of the local community. Choose from among 40,000 materials including books, movies, magazines, and CDs.

Wifi is available throughout and 12 public computers are available in the building. The Community Room displays art work throughout most of the year and the room is available for local meetings and programs. The Friends of The Cos Cob Library support programs including several book clubs, numerous storytime and craft programs for children, author visits, informative lectures for adults, and much more.

It has often been stated that our library resembles ‘Cheers,’ where everybody knows your name. Visit and see for yourself!
The Cos Cob Library has a long history, with the current building opening in 1999. Long in need of renovation, and following years of exploration, we are excited to finally undertake this vital work.

Your support is essential to bringing this dream to fruition, as we build a new and improved library that will assist in Cos Cob’s daily needs, and also grow with our robust community.
